The Talking Clock That Taught the Value of Time

In a quiet town near a river lived a playful little girl named Mira. Mira loved stories, toys, and daydreaming—but she hated one thing most of all: being on time.

“Just five more minutes,” she said every morning.
Five minutes became ten, and ten became trouble.

One afternoon, while cleaning the attic with her grandmother, Mira discovered an old wooden clock covered in dust. The moment she wiped it clean, the clock blinked and said softly,

“Time is precious, little one. Use it wisely.”

Mira jumped back in surprise.
“A talking clock?!” she whispered.

The clock smiled and said,
“Tomorrow, I will show you what happens when time is wasted.”

The next morning, Mira slept late again. Suddenly, the clock’s hands began to spin—and whoosh!—Mira found herself in an empty classroom. Her friends were gone. The teacher had already finished the lesson.

Mira felt a knot in her stomach.

The next day, she wasted time playing instead of doing homework. The clock spun again. This time, Mira saw her unfinished homework flying away like birds.

“Stop!” she cried. “I didn’t know time could disappear!”

That evening, Mira sat quietly in front of the clock.
“I’m sorry,” she said. “I didn’t respect time.”

The clock’s voice softened.
“Time helps those who respect it.”

The following morning, Mira woke up early. She brushed her teeth, packed her bag, and reached school before the bell rang. The classroom was bright and full of laughter.

That day, Mira finished her homework early and still had time to play, read stories, and help her grandmother.

When she returned to the attic, the clock had stopped talking. But Mira no longer needed magic to understand its lesson.

She had learned that time is a gift—and wasting it means losing opportunities.
